  1. ???????

  2. The thing about modding your consoles is that it will void your warranty.  It is hard to fix alot of these consoles when they break due to the fact that most of the hardware is propreitary.  The one thing that the console creators do not want is somebody to take apart there machines and do 'reverse engineering", so they can figure out how they work and steal their ideas (of which most are patented).   To answer your question, No.  The police will not kick your door in and haul you away for modding your xbox.  Even if you ran a crackhouse and they busted you, I can promise they wont add "modding xbox's" to the list of offenses.  However if you do certain softmods, Microsoft (or whoever) can block you from accessing online features.  In the end its your machine, do what you want.  You dont have to worry about going to federal pound me in the *** prison for it.

  3. nope not at all ever but it will void the warranty then you are stuck with it in you ever tried to take it to gamestop for store credit are for cash you would never ever get none at all :)ava06

  4. Modding to circumvent copy protection or backup play is ILLEGAL. According to the DMCA, hardwired copy protections or encryptions may not be circumvented. Softmoding may still be up to legal debate on its legallity. DMCA allows you to have a digital backup of each game as long as you dont share or sell it and as long as you did not decompile or backwards engineer the protections on the PS2 or the code of the game.

Examples of legal moding are cheating softwares like Action replay, that allow you to alter the code of the game in memory for cheating  and to use some homebrew apps (AR mediamax player edition). these are legal because they did not alter the PS2 and the manufacturer has already recieved a license to access the hardware.

  5. a BIG negative, we are still partially free and once you pay for it its yours to do with as you please

  7. no not to my knowledge. i'm sure people do it all the time

  8. no but it will void your warranty

  9. i think so , but u can do it , but only 4 u buddy

  10. It's not illegal, but as mentioned, will void your warranty, and depending on the types of modding, may get you in trouble if you're playing online ("just making it look cooler" would be totally fine).

  11. yea i guess it would

  12. No.

As long as you don't use the modding to play pirated or downloaded games. Which as you said you won't be doing.

Modding the physical appearance is fine but some, more radical modifications void the warranty.

Adding stickers = no voiding warranty

Ripping it open and putting LED lights in = voided warranty

  13. No. But it would void the warranty.
