IS moving to an out of state college worth it have(even though it costs more than double)?any experiences

also if you move out of state is there any way of becoming a resident after first year or before first year to not have to pay more that double the price for out of state any help is appreciated!

  1. It depends on the college you want to go to, your interests, and the options available to you in-state. For instance, it would probably not be worth it to go out-of-state if you're a California resident since tuition is one of the cheapest in the country there and they have some awesome state schools. On the other hand, I live in Oregon and haven't been that impressed with the state schools (or their cost) here, so it would be worth it to me. Sometimes neighboring states give discounts to each other as well, so you could still go out-of-state and not pay a ton. (like MN-WI)

    But what matters most is if the schools you're considering have good programs in what you want to pursue. If you want to go into business and the University of Your State has an excellent business department, then just stay put. If it doesn't, than research schools that do and apply there. That should be what drives your education choices, not just moving out-of-state for the sake of it.

    If you are going to a state school in another state, you can usually get residency after a year or two and qualify for in-state tuition. Some states are have stricter rules for that, and don't let you get in-state tuition if you moved just to attend college there or go home over the summer. You will have to check those policies with the specific schools you're interested in.
