I was wondering if the PFT was only done in the Army, or do other branches also have it?

  1. Every Branch has it. And the Airforce isnt on a bike (unless you have an injury that prevents you from running during the time of your fitness test, and from what I have seen more people fail the bike test than the run test).

  2. Yes they all have it and the all have their own standards and items tested. There are certain exemptions like you can skip the run if you want to do the swim or eliptical trainer instead. Each varies by branch and each thing you do instead is actually harder than the thing you are skipping.

  3. I've heard rumors (but you know how trustworthy those are) that the air force conducts physical fitness tests as well, substituting the run with a bike ride. But, I was in the army, so i can't really confirm that for sure.

  4. nope...I'mm in the navy and i know that all militarypersonnell have to take the pft...they all have there different requirements for the test but they all have to take it...kinda sucks haha just don't join the marines if your worried about pft...there pft is unbelievable...in the navy you only have to run a mile and a half....in the marines you have to run 3 miles

  5. Every branch has physical fitness requirements. They vary between the branches and are attainable for the average person .I don't mean effortlessly easy, but it's not like Navy Seal training. Just running, push ups and sit ups for the fitness test.

  6. I know the Marines have PFT

  7. From my understanding, every branch has a form of a "personal fitness test", but they may not necessarily call it PFT.

My Hubby is a former Marine, and they had a PFT as well...

    Hope that helped!

  8. no
