IS there more than one time zone in the UK?

The internet says its around midnight=1am there, but my friend from the UK says she is 4 hrs ahead of me? (It is almost 8pm here, so it would only be 11:50ish there)

There is no time zones in England. It is always the same time everywhere. Their a small enough country that they sit in between time zone lines. [=

Somehow you and your friend have got mixed up , take it from me i am English and i have lived here all my life , there is only one time covering the whole of the UK. We are only a small island and there is no need for different time zones .

for most of the year, Th UK is 5 hours ahead of the East coast of the U.S because both countires use daylight savings, however, they don't change over at the same time, so there will be times when there is 4 hours or 6 hours difference bewteen the UK and the U.S East coast

but for most of the year

The UK is 5 hours ahead of Eastern time (e.g New York City, New York)

The UK is 6 hours ahead of Central Time (e.g Kansas City, Kansas)

The UK is 7 hours ahead of Mountain time (e.g Denver, Colorado)

The Uk is 8 hours ahead of Pacific Time (e.g Los Angeles, California)

there's only one time zone ... we're not big enough for more

however you've got to allow for British Summer Time ... in the winter we are on GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) which is the "correct" time for here ... but in the summer we put the clocks forward (is it forward or is it back, I can never remember) an hour to make ourselves get up earlier and that's called BST ... the idea is that way we get more of the daylight (it means it's lighter later in the evening)

confusing I know but lots of other parts of the world do the same
