  1. I definitely think Mechanical Engineering does a little bit of everything. In your sophomore year, you take Chemistry, Statics, Materials science, programming, and a physics course about electricity and magnetism (covers EE, ME, CE, Comp Ee, ChemE). In your junior year, you take Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer (Aero. E) and Strength of Materials (Civil Eng.). Now, it's up to you what you want to do for your electives and senior year. My concentration was in Mechatronics (combination of mechanical engineering and electronics), which I actually ended up doing in my current job (test engineer). I design in CAD (ProE), get it machined, set my test up, hook up instrumentation, and get the data.

PS. If you're trying to get a BS in engineering, try to stick with the broader fields (ME, EE, CE). You never know what industry you'd be in. Kinda weird to see an aeronautics engineer in an automotive industry. When you go for your M.S., then you can go as specific as you want. Hope this helps.

  2. Industrial Engineering does a bit of everything (maybe not aeronautical)
