  1. Add the following to all of Possum's ideas:

*Contact the agency that handled your adoption and requested your non-identifying information.

*Leave a letter (or fill out their form) authorizing the release of your information with that agency.

*Contact the California's adoption registry & adoption information site and register with them at:

    http://www.childsworld.ca.gov/PG1314.htm

    *California waiver of confidentiality form:

    http://www.dss.cahwnet.gov/Forms/English...

    *Nullius guide to California search:

    *California search tool:

    *Adoption search guide:

*Find a search group in your area.

I made 1st contact (with a 1/2 sib) within 3 months of sending my first letter (pre-internet! LOL) Met my first mom the following weekend. The only cost was a few dollars here and there for copies.

Write to me if you'd like.

With a little info, I may be able to add some ideas...

    Good Luck!

  2. This is the usual advice I tell adoptees in the US -

First - add your details to the registries here

    http://www.isrr.net/

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Check here for information on your state records here -

    http://adopteerights.net/

(click on the page marked 'Searchers' down the left hand side)

Apply for your non-id info from the adoption agency if you know who they were.

Check here for search help - and links to search angels -

    http://www.adoptioncrossroads.org/

    (for free)

And check here for any support - it's the best online forum for adoptees I've found -

    http://www.adultadoptees.org/

All the very best with your search.

(is that your birthdate you posted - or your mothers???)

If you add more details other may be able to help.
