Im gonna finish my comp engineering within a month

Ive already been placed in 2 companies through campus placements (decent pay for a fresher)

Im 21 from India and come from a middle class background and my family is currently in debt because of a home loan my parents had taken

I am confused as to whether I should risk the jobs for a masters in US

OR

to first take experience only for a year and then go for further studies in US

the sad thing is that the companies have a 2 yr contract thing which requires me to pay up if I leave the job before finishing the 2 yrs period

I am ready to take an education loan for my studies which I think I can pay up myself if I go to the US

are companies really serious about the 2 yrs thing or is it just to have the employee with the organisation???

what should I do??

  1. The only time I have ever heard of a company requiring 2 years, is if they payed for your education.  Otherwise, you should be free to leave whenever you want.

  2. Simple.  It comes down to, after 2 years, will you be in a good position to go to the US for a masters?  Or is some opportunity that is available to you now going to close in that period?

You'd need to be admitted to a US university, and have a student visa, and either have a scholarship that pays your way, or enough funds set aside to pay for tuition, room and board, and supplies.  Can you do that now?  Will you be able to do that 2 years from now?

If you can do it now, and won't be able to do it then, either because of finances or family ties or whatever, you should get your master's now.  If you'll still be able to do it in 2 years, then help your parents pay off some or all of the loan, and then go.
