Question

My younger sister spilled a 1/2 bottle of clear nail polish on my wooden floor in my bedroom.

while i was away for the weekend

so now its all DRIED UP AND TOUGH TO GET OFF!!!

I really need to take it off without my dad finding out!

WHAT CAN TAKE THIS OFF without harming

the wooden floor and its real wooden floors so im FREAKED!

tried and didnt work:

nail polish remover

water...lol i was scared

i dunno wha else will work so i didnt even try

These are real wood floors, as with anything natural, nothing sticks to it. so the nail varnish which was spilt on the floor  should not be a problem, it should come off with nail varnish.

Try soaking an wet towel on the floor and scrub with soap.

Then get a toothbrush and scrub again. That should work.

go to the store and buy goo gone trust me its the best stuff ever invented and it will bring it right off

It’s lacquer. Once it dries, nothing but sanding will take it off.  You’re either going to need to get an area rug or fess up.

Don&#039;t ever put nail polish remover on a sealed floor again! That could have destroyed the finish even more.

Nail polish remover will work.  Remember, when you use it on your nails, it is working on a very thin layer of the polish.  When you tried it, it probably took off a thin layer -- but the stuff on your floor is thick.   You&#039;ll have to keep taking it off layer by layer in small bits at a time.  Soak a small area with Remover, then immediately wipe it with a cloth.  DON&#039;T use paper or tissue; it will just leave a mess.  Use something like a J-cloth or a dish towel, not a fluffy towel.

Start at the edge of the stain, not in the middle.  It will come off with a bunch of work.  Make your little sister help but don&#039;t give her heck; she didn&#039;t do it on purpose.
