  1. HI., I been to Rome, Florence, Venice,Pisa and Assisi...

I totally loved Venice,. I been there in April. so smell was not an issue.. if you plan to go there . stay on island.

I would recommend little town Assisi. if you will take a train from Rome to Florence.. its about on middle,. very, very nice... 5 hours will be more than enough there,.

so.. defenetly Rome. at last 2-3 days. Florence and Venice...

  2. listen every single part of italy is to be seen. i mean in italy there is so much so see that it really depends on what you want to visit and when you're going. cities to visit: florence (my favourite), venice (but now its too hot), rome are the most famous but i do like siena and umbria's cities too. if you want to go to the sea: sardegna, sicilia, isole eolie...

there is so much to visit and to do!just a suggestion: come in the cities when it's a little colder, now it's very very hot..like in autumn. ..

  3. i was there in January! My favorite city was Florence by far.... but Rome was great too

  4. Sorry but I think yours is not a very well asked question. Perhaps you think Italy is a small country with some nice things to see, and one can choose one or another as if one chooses a cinema or a restaurant. Italy is a big and complex country with lots of differences and several cities, regions and landscapes. If you want to see Venice, see Venice. It is not true that it smells bad. It can smell bad as any other city. The water of the lagoon is dirty but the city is marvelous.

If you prefer other places, look for news about and visit the places you find the most attractive. But don't think you can stay in Italy one week and see "everything", or "all the best", or "Rome, Florence and Venice" as lots of tourists do. You would waste most of your time travelling and you would see nothing well.

  5. Rome Florence Venice if it's your first trip.

Venice you will either love or hate but you should see it. I don't remember it smelling bad. It's surrounded by water so you're going to get some dank areas - but that's to be expected.

Go to  your library and get two books by Susan Gustafson "Great Eats Italy" and "Great Sleeps Italy". (Formerly Cheap Eats and Cheap Sleeps.)

Rome Florence and Venice are the featured cities in the books. They are my bibles when I'm in Italy. One page is devoted to each restaurant or hotel. Great descriptions and excellent range of prices.
