  1. Call local police, not 999 though and ask about noise pollution laws.

  2. It probably is. It seems as if, in the UK, that there are laws against just about everything someone is doing. Sounds a lot like California. These people talk a lot about freedom, but make laws against so many things people do.

  3. for gods sake dont bother the police as its clearly a civil matter...they are busy dealing with crime!

If its a regular problem call environmental health..if its just your neighbours doing there house up then go to the pub!

U cant drill a shelf up without any noise

Would u rather them do it at midnight!

  4. Most definitely !

phone the local council noise patrol

explain the situation & they will sort it.

If you have young kids, tell them.

  5. If it's a prolonged build, rather than a one off nuisance, then yes, there are restrictions.

They should only be carrying out noisy work between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am and 1pm on Saturday.

Environmental Health at your local council should be able to advise, but chances are, they don't work Sundays. The council websites are often very good sources of info on this kind of thing.
