ITTF’s Ludovic Hubler present at the 2011 World Championship – Table tennis Update
Head of the Programmes for Peace and Sport, Ludovic Hubler, was one of the most prominent figures present at the GAC GROUP 2011 World Table Tennis Championships, held at Ahoy Arena.
Hubler has played an integral role in developing the sport all over the world, through the International Table Tennis federation (ITTF) Hope Developmental Programme.
The fact to be acknowledged here is that Hubler was able to achieve the feat, despite not having the funds to run the programme. He travelled around the world for five years and made an enormous contribution in promoting table tennis. He has worked in some
of the most under developed countries, especially in the African region. He has also worked in adverse conditions and extreme climates.
Hubler expressed his views and said, “I thumbed rides and did whatever necessary, It was my Phd of life!”
He has seen smiles on the faces of small kids, with a racket and ball in their hands and this is the reward he treasures the most.
Ludovic Hubler has a different view about table tennis and said, “Table tennis brings people together, it teaches harmony, a respect for rules and regulations whilst in doubles it teaches co-operation.”
The current championship has also brought smiles on the faces of many players. Top table tennis players are seen in action as the event is in progress at the Ahoy arena. Over 700 players are participating in each category of the championship. Table tennis
is a source of bringing people together. Players from Japan, Haiti and Faroe Islands are contesting in the event.
The competition will be testing skills of players coming from all over the world, who are striving to give their best in the Championship. Players will be hoping to give a performance that will be remembered and acclaimed by the world. Players from all table
tennis federations are present in the event.
The most prominent players are from China, Japan, Korea and Singapore. Ludovic Hubler has done a wonderful effort by bringing the championship into the country, which is sure to give a boost to the sport in future.
