Question:

ITunes, Safari, Picasa and Windows Live Mail will not connect to the Internet, but I am connected?!?

My internet connection is absolutely fine (I'm using it to type this), but the programs above are not connecting to the internet -- done lots of the recommended fixes. Flushed DNS, re-installed the programs etc. There is something within them (perhaps) stopping them from thinking there is a connection.

PLEASE HELP. It's very annoying. But all of them have NEVER connected. Windows Update is disabled as well.

It's a Windows Vista Home Basic. 1GB RAM.

Any help to solve this problem would be GREATLY appreciated.

  1. I think you might be under a firewall too! Windows Vista has two firewalls. One is the standard windows firewall which is controlled from within the control panel, and the other could be the antivirus program firewall. You need to either switch both off, or check both settings. Also contact your ISP to make sure the connection is totally working.

  2. Try disabling Firewall on your router. Sometimes it comes auto-enabled

  3. r u under a firewall? disable that.

  4. this has been happening to a lot of my friends on vista. first of all try restarting your computer, thats the best way to start troubleshooting. second go to your network in the start menu, click your connection. it should say limited connection (thats bad) right click it and repair. also try restarting your modem and router, unplug them and plug them back in. wait 10 seconds after unplugging it, before doing that shut down your computer. if none of those works, just wait, it will fix it self im sure about that 1000%

dont disable your firewall, unless your recently installed one and thats when your trouble started.
