Until yesterday evening I had full access to iTunes, and I go on it nearly every day. I have (probably stupidly) bought and downloaded a lot of music from the site. I found yesterday afternoon that I couldn't open up the program at all. This is particularly annoying today because there's a podcast I really want to listen to!

This is the problem that appears on screen:

"C:\Windows\system32\ODBC32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendor for support."

I have tried the solution offered from my laptop which is to reinstall iTunes. I'm scared I'll lose all my music, so so far I have always clicked the "repair" option when reinstalling (it gives options to uninstall or repair). Reinstalling in this way has made no difference at all. I have tried to access help from the iTunes website but it was very complicated so I thought I'd try Yahoo answers first.

A possible cause or symptom was that when i turned the laptop on it did a very strange disc check or hard drive check, I think it said it was for safety. I don't know why it did this. Also, Spider Solitaire has suddenly stopped working too!!

Sorry this is so long, just trying to build up a clear picture of what happened, because I don't understand it at all. Would it be okay to uninstall iTunes completely and then reinstall? Will I lose all my music, and if I have already, how can I get it back?!

  1. you can download that file here http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-fi...

Dont worry you music will not be deleted it is Stored under you My Music Directory.

But what has seems to have happened is that your computer was shutdown incorrectly or crashed. Go to My computer and right click the C:\ drive, Select the Tools tab and under Error Checking Click the button saying "Check Now" Select Both the tick boxes and Push the Start button.

After this process has completed restart laptop and see if things work.

If it doesnt put the file i listed obove in the C:\Windows\system32\ directory.

Hope this sorts things out for you
