ITunes no longer recognizes my iPod!

Okay, so I have a Mac and I have been trying for what seems like forever to update my new iPod but, iTunes will just not recognize my iPod. I can see my iPod on my desktop but NOT iTunes. I already tried deleting and reinstalling my iPod and resetting my iPod (holding down the menu and center button) but nothing works.

AT FIRST when I plugged in my iPod, iTunes DID recognize the iPod and a box came up asking me if I wanted to "Erase & Sync" but I clicked cancel and ever since then have been having problems and cannot see my iPod in iTunes.

Please help!

  1. ther are several steps:

as it appears on desktop use disk utility (in applications/utilities)  to repair the ipod disk system.

then you need to erase your itunes preferences file as it thinks this ipod is not pto be paired with the mac.  its in

    /(your account)/libray/preferences/ then

    com.apple.ipod.plist

    com.apple.itunes.plist

This does NOT erase your music librayr just the connection prefs.

also make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed.

then log out of your user account or restart machine, start itunes, reset the ipod (connect when the light comes on) and then say YES to the pairing message. then just select restore  when it appears in the list.

if this doesnt work I am stumped and you may need to try it on another computer as the paring between ipod and computer seems mucked up anohter machine many overcome this
