ITunes not reading my nano?

Question

All of a suden when I plug my iPod nano into the USB port thingy It gives me the Error "It appears your ipod is corrupt, please try restoring... etc".

So i tried that, it didnt work, i tried re-instaling iTunes, that didnt work either.

Is it possible i just need a new one?

Its a first gen. nano And ive had it for like 2years prob.
