ITunes wouldnt start...

My iTunes wouldnt start up since i transferred my 'my music' folder to my portable hardware. It;ll only start if i plug my portable hard drive in. and it wouldnt save my songs.

HELP. i'm a girl who's retarted when it comes to all that technical stuff.

  1. I guess itunes needs to recognize your My Music folder or whatever folder you assigned to itunes in order to start up.

    As for getting your songs back on itunes just go to file-add folder and choose your my music folder


  2. The iTunes Library files are stored in the "My Music" folder. So when the portable hard drive is not plugged in, iTunes can't find the files it needs to run. I'm guessing that you ran out of room and some one told you to move that folder to your portable drive since your library of music/video is quite large. The reason your songs won't run in iTunes is that it is looking in the wrong place. Putting that stuff on an portable drive is tricky. If you really want to try it, check out the howto below.

  3. you should have copied, not cut. Copy them back so it is in both. If that doesn't work I suggest reinstalling iTunes.
