  1. iui is when they put your partners, or donors washed sperm

directly into your uterus with a catheter.

some doctors will due this just prior to ovulation so the sperm is waiting for egg to be released,

and some doctors will do it after the follicle ruptures.

I am in australia so i cannot give you the cost for uk i'm sorry

you can have a medicated or unmedicated cycle depending on each partners factors, generally if it is a male factor problem they won't use to much meds if any on the woman,

success rates varies quite alot from clinic to clinic but with iui it is likely to be more successful if it is a cervical mucus problem of low sperm count, also it is the first treatment often used for unexplained fertility, (this is how it is in australia ofcourse) but at the end of the day iui is the  same everywhere when it comes to the actual procedure..

goodluck i hope you have success with it, if you decide to go down this path

  2. hi lola, sorry to hear about your bfn, i had the same today too so i understand how you feel. as the other person says, iui is intra uterine insemination, before you go there though a gp will order certain tests 1st, a sperm check and blood tests for you. officially its not classed as a problem unless you've been trying a year. they may then refer you to a fertility consultant who will do further tests like an internal scan to check your ovaries(doesn't hurt, promise!).  according to all the test results the consultant will then recommend the relevant treatment.

be aware though that in a lot of cases there just is no explanation.

ivf is potentially dangerous so will only be done if really necessary, there are other options to try 1st. good luck, you have time on your side which is good x
