  1. The first step is to see if you are eligible for federal grants.  You can apply for federal funding through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  

    Beyond that you would be looking for private scholarships, or counting on aid from the school you are attending.  For private grants and scholarships I would use FastWeb as a starting point to searching for scholarships.  They offer free services and great information at www.fastweb.com
