If you are worried about needing a visa for the U.S. because your flight will go through the U.S., it is not a poblem.  If your flight stops in the U.S. , you do NOT need a transit visa.  The U.S. did away with transit visas several years ago.  Now, if your flight stops in the U.S., you must go through a special customs then wait in a separate international waiting room for your next flight.  You can verify this by using the site below.   Just enter your nationality, your transit point, and your destination, and click for the info.   The info about the international waiting room will be given to you.  You can also verify this with the airline.

I would imagine of you checked flights from where you're at or Australia, you'll probably find directs into some Mexican city...Mexico City, if nothing else.  Not all flights have to go through the US,

Phillipine Airpline goes through Vancouver, Canada, then links up with Mexicana Airlines to Mexico City, for example.

There is only one flight directly from Asia to Mexico, and that is a Aeromexico flight to Tokyo (stop in Tijuana). I imagine it is pretty expensive. It would probably be cheaper to go through Vancouver.
