i use cut  finger mullet or any other small fish you can catch in that area. remember to use wire leader as even snapper blues have very sharp teeth

As mentioned "snappers" are very co operative when they are running.

Nothing fancy is needed.

When I was a kid they used to sell snapper poles which were just a thin bamboo rod w/ no reel .

For bait ...fresh spearing ( shiners ) are their natural favorite ( frozen will do).

There are snapper "rigs" that have a silver spinner, leader & hook ready to go or used w/ bait.

Any small artificial lure, spinner , spoon or jig  that simulates a shiner is fine  esp when they are in large schools.

The little devils put up a fight  & the most fun is a very light rod ( an  ultralight  fresh water  rig is great).... even a cheapo kid's rod.

They have nice sharp teeth so watch your fingers .
