  1. Traveling to mount Kenya is very easy, both by public means and private means. There are many public buses and matatus (minivans that carry upto 14 pax) from Nairobi to the towns around Mt Kenya (e.g Meru and Nanyuki). The road network to these towns is good.

    If your budget allows, you can also use the many tour companies available, though the rates are a bit higher than public transport. The railway system is not currently very reliable. Domestic flights from Nairobi Wilson airport to Nanyuki are also available.

    Once in Nanyuki for example, one hotel you can stay in is the Mount kenya safar club (website: www.fairmont.com/KenyaSafariClub/). If you are a budget traveller, there are other less costly hotels in Nanyuki like Equator Chalet Hotel, and Sportman Arms hotel.

    If you are planning to trek or Climb Mount Kenya, you could start from Naromoru, a small town just a few kilometers to the South of Nanyuki. You may want to organise your safari with a reputable travel firm. I hope this info helps.

  2. Dont rely on the trains - there is only one main line and it's pretty awful.  Buses are a far better bet, although travelling on public buses can be very uncomfortable.  You can also call up tour companies and try and find a group of people going there that you could join up with (or book a minibus if you have a big group already)

  3. train sevices very unreliable. There are good bus companies that you can use.  Reef hotel in Mombasa is good and affordable. Narumoru Lodge near Mt Kenya is good and affordable

  4. It is not difficult in terms of finding some tour company to take you there but it is difficult as far as the trip itself. The roads in Kenya are horrible. What would take you 5 hours on a good road is at least a 10 hour trip in Kenya. Bad Backs BEWARE!!! Kenya is beautiful Mike just be heads up you never know what is around the next corner. Here are two words in Swahili you should know.

    Jambo = hello

    Asante sana = thank you

  5. During my last trip I came across a website called http://www.cheaphotel-s.com . It has quite a large variety of hotels. You might wanna give it a try.

  6. We can arrange for a trip to mount kenya and anywhere else you would like to travel within Kenya. We could also assit with any hotel bookings. Info@oasis.co.ke or check out www.oasis.co.ke

  7. www.tripadvisor.com

    offers reviews from other travellers
