  1. If any scrum half but it would be hard. It's not only your height, also strength and skill and age.

  2. No you are not too short! Rugby can be played by all sizes and shapes.

If you feel the desire to be a  forward then hooker might be the place for you.

If you prefer to be in the backs then either scrum half or wing might be the places for you.

    Don't worry and enjoy...

  3. One of the deadliest attackers in Super League - Rob Burrow stands just 165 cm tall (5`4). Played in the Tri-Nations tournament last year and is set to play for his country (England) at the world cup later this year. If you have Sky, i'd suggest you watch him live on tv as he is absolutely sensational. Has played a core role in the recent success of the Leeds Rhinos who have won pretty much every piece of silverware available to them including the Carnegie World Club Challenge earlier this year.

Rob Burrow plays halfback as shown on his profile (Rugby League) or Scrum-half (Rugby Union) is where the little 'bugger to tackle' guys play.

Follow your dreams and don't let anybody stand in the way of them.

  4. height dosent mean anything in rugby look up a guy called shane williams who plays for wales people said he was to short and now he is one of the worlds best players and the top try scorer of the 6 nations.

    if your fast winger

if your a good passer fit and quick scrum half

if your strong and fast centre

you could also play hooker if your strong

but i wouldnt suggest second row or back row

  5. scrumhalf

  6. It does depend on how old your are, but there are profesional players that are similar heights to you. Theres a guy called romain teulet who play for Castre rugby club in france who is the same height as  you and he is a profesional. Dont listen to people that say you are too small to play. Probably the best two players in the team that i play in are the smallest!!

Go for it, it is a grt sport!!

Also scrum half and wing, maybe full back will be the positions you would be likely to play in, you might also be able to make it as a fly half!!

  7. well im 13 and only 5'6"... and i play football

  8. scrum-half. the namibian sub scrum half in the world cup was only 5'3.apart from that the shortest player i know is 5'6. if you play rugby, the only possible position is scrum-half. you need to be very fit and have a very fast, perfect pass

  9. i'm 5'2" and i was a player...scrum half is our best position...

it's all in our mind not our size...

but when you want to take it seriously,..then yes...

    size does matter!!

  10. You may want to look at playing hooker...if you have a stout build and still short, you can get in there with your leg strength.

I am a member of the local rugby team here and our hookers are all under 5 foot 8 inches...but stout...every last one of em.

  11. I'm 5'8'' but i only grew this year. i've always been considered one of the smallest players in our league, but i still start for our team. I play Hooker, and i'm not that 'stout' i'm about 9 stone, which makes me pretty small in size and pretty light in comparison to the others on my team. I now play the age group above me and start. I also had trials for a regional team... 2 actually. didnt make it cos i was sick for the summer.

My brother is about the same and he had trials for a regional team and made the reserves.

2 of my other friends are just a bit taller than me and they are also considered good players, and both start.

So you're not too short. Just work on your skills in the game and you'll do great. Find what you can do and fit yourself into a position that suits you. If you have the skill, height doesn't matter.
