Iams animal testing? =[

Question

what exactly do they DO to their animals in the lab? i know its really cruel but i wuld like to know what they do to those animals. i DONT feed my pets iams and i never will but i know some people who do and i want to educate them and encourage them to stop feeding iams. Can any1 educate me about what kind of testing iams does.

I dunno man, but a buddy in college used to work for them and they would see how much dog food a dog could eat before it died. The dog usually died of lead poisoning around 3 or 4 bowls.

They use the product they're testing on animals. That's it.

EDIT: would you rather they test it, or leave it, and then have YOUR dog die from poisoning?

the happy dogs bounding across a field in iams dog food commercials are light years away from dogs in the lab that iams hired to conduct nutritional studies. an undercover investigator for PETA took a job in the lab and found the following:

-workers talking about dogs lying dead in their cages

-dark, dungeon-line kennels that were stifling in the summer and frigid in the winter

-dogs circling endlessly in their small prisons from lonliness and boredom

-dogs dumped onto cold concrete flooring after large chunks of muscle were cut from their thighs

-a procedure in which tubes would be stuck down  dogs' throats to force them to ingest vegetable oil

-dogs with such severe tartar buildup on their teeth that it was painful for them to eat

-vet technicians with inadequate training and inexpierenced in performing invasive procedures

our investigator videotaped iams representatives visiting the lab, witnessing the animals in these dreadful conditions- and doing nothing.even her pleas that the dogs be given resting boards, toys, and the socialization that they so desperately needed were ignored. to her horror, the lab director even ordered that the dogs' vocal cords be cut because their frightened and lonely barking irritated him.

when PETA went to public this evidence, iams officials lied and said that they had no idea what conditions were like inside the lab that theiir own staff regularly visited! iams then cut ties with the lab.

But iam and its owner, Procter & Gamble, still do business with dozens of outside labs that might be just as bad as the one that we investigated. Iams also conducts studies on dogas and cats in its own facility, which it refuses to allow PETA representatives to see."

the vocal cord part sickens me :(, this is all from a little flyer that i have that i got like 4 years ago or so, so who knows whats going on now and how many helpless animals have died :(

I'm not familiar with this, but please don't take PETA's word for it.  The terrorist organization is biased and isn't known for actually researching.

they make sure that iams make there consumers dogs die or get cancer so they test different potentially deadly ingredients on the dogs and cats in there lab.
