http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s managing director Ian Ayre has confirmed that the Reds have money to spend in January, but are more than happy with their current squad.
Having already spent over a hundred million pounds in 2011, which saw them bring in Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102 and Charlie Adam.
However, despite making all these signings, the Reds have failed to contest for the Premier League title once again and are sitting in the seventh spot in the league table.
Not only has this left the fans disappointed, but it has them wondering just what is wrong with the team.
In order to try and compensate the fans feelings and give them something to look forward to, Ayre has gone on to reveal that there is ample money still left to be spent by the Reds and its only a matter of finding the right players.
He also added that the team was doing fine at the moment and there was no such rush to make purchases in the January transfer window.
When talking about Liverpool’s position in the transfer market, Ayre is quoted to have said: “Money is not an issue. If we need somebody and there's a player I think our owners have shown the level of commitment you would expect from a good ownership group
that the manager will get supported whatever he needs.
"But that's not the same as saying we will just go spend money because we have got it or just because we can.”
Ayre then went on to reveal that Liverpool’s mission was to try and build for the future and focus on the long run, rather than try and pick up player’s for instant success.
He added: "It is about the long-term plan of where they want the squad and where they want the team to be, that's not about any particular transfer window it's about continuing to improve.”
It seems like Kenny Dalglish has finally started to build the team for the future and that its going to be another season or two, before Liverpool pick up their pace and start contesting for the Premier League crown once again.
