Ian Bell Hopes for England recovery after a disappointing first day at the Ashes
England’s star player at the Ashes Ian Bell, says he would like to see a recovery after a disappointing first start of the Test in Brisbane, as Australia finished 235 behind with 25-0 after the first day
and Michael Hussey put in some impressive batting on the second day to give the Aussies a clear advantage.
The England team was bested by 28-year-old paceman Peter Siddle, who captured 6-54 and turned heads with an impressive hat-trick, “We are certainly under par, but credit to Siddle, it was a fantastic spell,”
Bell told BBC sport.
Bell took 76 out of a modest 260 total count, and although he was not entirely satisfied with England’s performance in the first day of the Test, he remained optimistic. "The ball swung around all day,
which is unusual in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, and if we have the same conditions we back our guys to put it in the right places," he told reporters. "It hasn't all gone to plan but we're going to come out scrapping."
The paceman also reflected on England’s embarrassing loss during their first Test in Australia last go round, where the Aussies won 5-0 in the series, and took a total of 346-3, to win by 277 runs in what
was an embarassment for England. "It's a better day than we had last time we were here," he told reporters. "The guys are still in good spirits, we know what we need to do and the guys are ready for it."
With the efforts of Simon Katich and Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 bringing Australia to and easy 25-0 early on in their response, England was taken by surprise at the energy with which Australia fought back. "Hopefully
the wicket will quicken up and our bowlers will get the most out of it, said Bell. “There are some disappointed guys, but it’s day one of an Ashes series.
Despite some disappointment with England’s performance, Bell said that he loved the atmosphere at the Gabba. He complimented Siddle on his bowling, and said that he was glad to be a part of such a special
event.
Siddle, celebrated his 26th birthday with an impressive delivery and a hat-trick, "It didn't really worry me too much, it being a hat-trick ball,” said the bowler.
Recalling the moment Siddle left no room for doubt that this would remain one of the most memorable days of his career so far, "The crowd starting roaring, and it was very loud out there and definitely
did pump me up. There was a little bit of adrenaline from the crowd but it didn't come off as the ball I wanted.”
Having fought an injury that he sustained over the course of the year, Siddle said that he now feels ready for the challenge of the Ashes Test, "It was a bit of change from my type of bowling. I usually
go short of a length but on this type of wicket a little bit fuller worked well."
