Ian Bell, the English middle-order batsman, is over the moon to have struck the winning runs in the third Test of the four-match series against India at Kolkata and expressed that winning consecutive Tests in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is no mean achievement.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 defeated the hosts by seven wickets in the third fixture to go 2-1 up in the series and will be entering the fourth match with an unassailable lead under their belt. The last Test begins from December 13, at Nagpur.
The Poms deserve a lot of credit for their exceptional performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and company, with no cricket analyst giving them a realistic chance of beating India in spin-friendly conditions before the start of the
series.
Bell, in his column for The Independent, expressed that he felt honoured to have played Test cricket at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata and winning the match was the icing on the cake.
The right-handed batsman has not been in the best of forms in the current series, managing just 27 runs in three innings, before making a solid 28 not out in the second innings of the Kolkata Test to see his team home.
Needing just 41 runs to win in the last innings of the match, Bell did not expect his side to lose three wickets, although the stylish batsman is happy to have scored some runs and regaining his form.
He wrote, “To hit the winning runs for England in a Test match in Kolkata is beyond boyhood dreams. I said in my column last week that just playing Test cricket at Eden Gardens was the fulfilment of an ambition. Although, when I woke
up yesterday morning I certainly wasn't expecting to be walking out with us three down.”
Bell, who did not take part in the second Test at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 because of some personal reasons, feels that beating the Men in Blue in consecutive Tests at their own backyard is a moment of joy for his side.
“After the disappointment of Ahmedabad and then watching our Mumbai win on TV, to play a part in back-to-back victories in India is a moment that deserves to be savoured,” Bell added.
