Ian Bell hopes to get promoted as he looks forward to bounce back
The stylish middle order English batsman Ian Bell has expressed his thoughts of being promoted to number five in the upcoming matches of the Ashes series. Bell has been in exceptional form in this year’s Ashes but he has been unlucky as he has ran out of
partners most of the times he comes out to bat.
Bell has been batting at number six and he scored his fourth consecutive half century in the first innings at Perth. His innings was in vain as England suffered a thumping defeat due to some fiery bowling of the Australian bowlers.
Bell says that he is not sure whether he will be promoted up in the order or not but he would like if the decision is taken to promote him. He told the media, “I've had no discussions about it. It's always nice to get moved up the order. But whether that
happens or not is irrelevant for me for this series, as long as we're winning the next two Test matches. That's the most important thing to me, contributing to this team winning the Ashes.”
Paul Collingwood has been under criticism after he failed to perform for England in the first three matches. He has been continuously failing to score big runs and that has also cost Bell a lot. Bell comes to bat after four English wickets fall and with
a couple of more wickets, the Australian bowlers are into the tail.
Talking about the chances of England, Bell said that his team would improve on their previous performance. He admitted that the team was below par in the Perth Test but he said that the team will bounce back in the series. He said that the Australian team
has the momentum but still England has played better cricket.
Bell was excited about playing cricket in Melbourne and he said that it is always exciting to play in the Boxing Day Test. There is also a lot of crowd expected in the Melbourne test match which will start on the 26th of December.
Commenting on the Melbourne ground, Bell said, “Playing here in Melbourne is something you look forward to - a Boxing Day Test match is always special. The Oval in the last Ashes was a pretty big game - any England-Australia game is a huge game. But it's
probably one of the most exciting Test matches I feel we're going into.”
Bell was certain that the English team would not repeat the mistakes which they made in the Perth Test. He said that the team had talked about the errors which took place and those would be removed from the Melbourne Test match.
He said, “We had a blip in Perth - we knew http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at some point would play some great cricket and have some great individual performances. We've had a good opportunity to have a sit down and talk about what happened in Perth... in Melbourne, I'm sure
we can put right what went wrong.”
The series is poised very nicely at the moment and it will all depend on how the teams tackle the pressure. Australia have an edge over England after the Perth Test but there are certain areas where the Australian team also needs to improve.
