Ian Bell hoping for a promotion at MCG
Ian Bell said he was hopeful that he would be promoted up the order; however said he did not know whether the coach and the skipper will go ahead with it. The in-form http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 batsman Ian Bell has performed exceptionally well in the Ashes series after
he scored an impressive half century at the opening day of Gabba where the Aussies wrapped up the English innings for a less than impressive score of under 300.
Paul Collingwood has failed to find his form in the Ashes and has been struggling in the conditions down under. He has averaged a measly 15.5 in the Ashes series so far and the English coach had hinted after their loss at Perth that they might be looking
at the option of promoting Paul Collingwood up the order.
Ian Bell has averaged an impressive 71.36 in the year 2010; however critics have been saying that England have not been exploiting his full potential.
"It's always nice to get moved up the order. But whether that happens or not is irrelevant for me for this series, as long as we're winning the next two Test matches. That's the most important thing to me, contributing to this team winning the Ashes," Bell
said.
He stated that England had a good chance of staging a comeback in the fourth test despite the 267 run loss at Perth with well over a day to spare. Mitchell Johnson and Ryan Harris put on a stellar performance as the Aussies breezed to victory with ease.
The pace and bounce on the Perth wicket proved to be a little too much for the Englishmen who had thrashed Mitchell Johnson at Gabba. Mitchell has performed outstandingly at Perth, boasting 30 wickets in only 4 tests played there.
He said that the drop in pitch at the MCG would be better than that at Perth.
"We had a blip at Perth but we knew http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at some point were going to play some very good cricket, with some great individual performances. We've had a good opportunity to sit down and talk about what happened in Perth. We come to Melbourne now, I'm
sure we can put right what went wrong,” Ian Bell said.
Melbourne cricket ground is expected to attract a record breaking 90,000 plus crowd on the opening day of the match. However, Bell has insisted that his side will not succumb to pressure and will hold their ground as they go into the fourth test of the Ashes.
