Ian Bell vows to revive his ODI career – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597, the England batsman, is geared up to deliver the goods for his country in the 50-overs format upon his return to the team for the series against West Indies, which is going to commence from Saturday at Southampton.
The 30-year-old was dropped from the limited-overs side earlier this year after a poor Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE). However, Kevin Pietersen’s sudden retirement from the shorter formats of the game has given a chance
to Bell to revive his career in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
The right-hander is a fantastic Test player, having played 77 matches for England so far, in which he has scored more than five thousand runs at an average of 47.63.
However, his stats in the limited-overs formats are not that impressive as he is averaging 34.04 in ODIs and 29.16 in T20 cricket.
The Warwickshire cricketer has been doing exceedingly well for his country over the years and vows to make the most of the opportunity he has got against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Bell believes, "I've played a lot of one-day cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862 in and I've done well.”
Pietersen has been opening the batting for England in the shorter versions recently and the management has hinted that Bell will take his place because he has the experience to cope with the challenges posed by the new http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 regulations.
Bell admits that it may be a touch difficult for him to replicate KP's performances, but he is all set to prove to the critics that he is an equally good batsman in the 50-overs format.
"It'll be good for me to be settled in one position and that should help me. I'm a much improved player now both in Test and one-day cricket than I was at the start of my career. I'm not going to say I'll replace him (Pietersen), but I'm confident
I can be a success," the right-hander added.
