Ian Blackwell signs two-year extension with Durham County Cricket Club
The fierce English batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Blackwell-c1569 on Friday, signed a two year extension to his contract with the Durham County Cricket Club.
While talking to the media reporters, after signing the contract extension with Durham, the 33-year-old England all-rounder said that he had enjoyed his stint with the Dynamos and is quite settled at the club.
"I've really enjoyed playing in such a competitive side especially having really settled at the club during my time here," Blackwell said.
"There's real ambition within the squad and after winning the Championship once with Durham already I definitely want to be making even more of an impact as we look to secure more success over the coming years," he added further.
The 33-year-old Derbyshire-born cricketer started his county career with Derbyshire before moving on to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 in 2000. After playing nine seasons for the club, Blackwell moved to the Dynamos in 2008 county season. Since then the
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s national cricketer has been a consistent all-round performer for Durham across all the three formats of cricket.
Blackwell debuted in international cricket in September 2002 with a One Day International against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 at Colombo and went on to play 34 One Day Internationals before being overlooked for the national side April 2006 and he never
played since then.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Cook-c58795 hailed the all-rounder for his contribution to the county so far. Geoff said that Blackwell had been a great addition to the team over the past three seasons. He also hailed the left-armer for his
match winning performances as well as for his contribution to Durham’s continued on the field development.
"We're pleased that he has decided to commit to the club for another two years, not only for his performances on the field but for his spin expertise which he can share with our younger players as the club plan for the long term future,"

Blackwell has had an impressive opening season with Durham in 2008 when he helped the side to defend its Championship title contributing magnificently with both bat and ball. The season saw Blackwell, a fierce hitter and a tidy spinner,
compiling a tally of 801 first class runs at an average of 40.05. The left-arm spinner also picked up 43 wickets in that very season and was duly awarded with Durham's Player of the Year award.
