Ian Boswell positive with Trek-Livestrong for the 2012 season
Ian Boswell has signed a two-year contract with Trek-Livestrong and the cyclist is positive for the coming season after an unsatisfying 2011 season. He was at the peak of his career in 2010 as he dominated the Tour of Utah with his spectacular performance.
Ian was looking forward to the USA Pro Cycling in Colorado and the Tour of Utah but his hopes were shattered after UCI disallowed Trek-Livestrong from the events in 2011.
As a result of UCI’s decision, Boswell decided to ride with the US national team to fill the gap in his calendar.
He also participated at the Olympics test event in London and supported Tyler Farrar, which helped him in understanding the WorldTour level racing.
However, Farrar could not finish the race because of an unfortunate crash and Mark Cavendish secured the victory.
Ian mentioned that riding with professional cyclists was a big moment in his life and the race was more organised than any under 23 races.
He said, “A break went and I went to the front to support Tyler. It was cool to see how dialled those teams are, how they know how to bring the break back at the right time”.
The American gained huge popularity after his third place finish at the Tour of Utah 2010 and was declared as the “breakthrough rider of the year.” He was also praised by other renowned magazines.
The main reason for Trek-Livestrong’s disqualification from the major US events was its attachment with the World Tour team. The management has now decided to separate the team from the newly formed RadioShack-Nissan-Trek in the coming season.
The 20-year-old is now looking forward to his favourite races in Colorado, Utah and California, with his new coach Hunter Allen.
Ian is training hard and is positive that the tough training will produce good results for the 2012 season.
Boswell briefed, “I have a super good set up and I'm super motivated for next year, I'm making sure I'm doing all the right things, whether it's nutrition, sleeping, training, resting and yoga. I'm doing a lot of small things that really count and make a
big difference in the end".
Ian is content to start the new season with Trek-Livestrong as he is already familiar with the cyclists and the team’s management. It is believed that Boswell will also be seen in action at the Tour of California and Tour of Gila 2012.
