Ian Botham wants England to whitewash Pakistan in Test Series
Former England test cricketer, Sir http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Terence-Botham-c63998, wants the English team to whitewash the on-tour Pakistan cricket team 4-0, and send a message to their Ashes rivals Australia.
Out of the four scheduled test matches between England and Pakistan, the first has been played at Nottingham with England clinching a massive win of 354 runs against the visitors.
Talking about England’s victory at Trent Bridge, the former all-rounder said that the English side was so clinical in the first game that he can predict a 4-0 victory for the hosts. Botham said that the only thing that can overpass Pakistan’s humiliating whitewash is the bad weather. Praising the performance of Strauss’s men at Nottingham, the former Test player asked them to continue with their ruthless form through the rest of the summer. He further added that there is no reason that the hosts cannot be consistent against Pakistan in the next three matches.
Ian Botham said that England should take the Test series against Pakistan as a practice for the upcoming Ashes in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. By setting up a 4-0 win in the series, England can send a psychological message down to the shores 12 thousand miles away. To their Ashes rivals, who were recently thwarted by the young and inexperienced Pakistan side at Headingley.
Botham praised the performance of James Anderson in the first Test. Anderson will be overjoyed with his first 10 wickets haul in Test cricket. Jimmy exploited the favourable conditions very well, finishing the match with final figures of 11 for 71. The former all-rounder denied claims that Anderson sparks in swinging conditions only.
The confidence that Jimmy would gain from his remarkable performance at Trent Bridge would help him perform even when the conditions would not be so bowler friendly. The young bowler is still improving in many areas and the best thing about him is that he has got the patience of putting the ball in right areas consistently. Botham has advised Anderson to continue with his line and length as he is supposed to give same sort of performances against Australia in the upcoming Ashes series.
54 years-old Botham, advised the English men not to take it easy against Pakistan at anytime. He said that Strauss and his men should not forget that Pakistan drew 1-1 with Australia a week ago. He said that despite their defeat at Trent Bridge this Sunday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s novices would struggle to clamber over the remaining three Test matches with Mohammad Yousuf strengthening their middle order.
He said that after losing a one-day against the Bengali tigers last month, England was required to clinch a massive win in-style in the first Test against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, Nottingham and they did the job very well. Ian Botham said that winning by 354 runs is a marvellous success and England needs to sustain it through the rest of the summer.
Talking about the Pakistan side, Botham said that the visitors undoubtedly have a brilliant seam attack, but a seam attack is not enough for a team to earn victories. Without support from the batting line-up for the bowlers, Pakistan would face even worse defeats in the future. The middle order of Pakistan is the most fragile the side has ever seen. Since day one of Pakistan cricket, they had produced veterans like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Inzamam-ul-Haq-c64383 in the middle order. The current crop is the poorest one in the history of Pakistan cricket.
