Ian Chappell asks Ricky Ponting to step down from captaincy role
Ian Chappell has once again called on Ricky Ponting to step down from his role as team Australia’s captain and focus on his individual game.

“It is time,” a leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 daily quoted Chappell as saying. “I have said all along that this summer was it for Ricky Ponting as a captain, I felt that the end of the Ashes was the right time for him to end his Test captaincy,” he
added .
The four-time reigning World champions, who have won the coveted trophy three times in a row, faced an early exit from the show piece event this time with the co-hosts, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 defeating them in the quarter-final by five wickets. Not even

Chappell also asked for a change in Oz team and said that after the overhaul of the team, there would be no point to stick to the old captain.
“It is time to do some rebuilding, you are a looking at a four-year cycle. There are some good young cricketers out there and this could well be just the opportunity they are looking for to get a chance. I think it is time for proper rebuilding,”
he said.
The former spin wizard of Australia, Shane Warne also joined Chappel in his call for a change. However, he said that the final decision on the matter should be left with the Tasmania veteran.
“Whatever decision is made, either way, let Ricky decide,” said Warne. “He will have Australian cricket's interest in mind in his decision-making process,” he added.
