Ian Holloway believes Fernando Torres is not worth 50 million pounds
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway believes Chelsea’s new signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 is not worth the 50-million-pound fee the London club paid for him.
The Englishman said that he admires Torres as a player but nobody is worth the amount of money Chelsea paid.
Holloway talked about Fernando Torres ahead of the clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 where he scored a cracking goal.
“Is he worth that money? I don’t think anyone is. Do I agree with it? No. Can I do anything about it? No. But if people are going to pay it, then he is. If someone wants to pay me £50m for my house I’ll bloody sell it to him! ,” said Holloway in an interview.
Ian Holloway regarded Fernando Torres as one of the best strikers in the world and said that Chelsea have bought a great player. He added that the transfer showed the difference between the two Premier League clubs. Chelsea have shelled millions of dollars
on Torres while Blackpool had a record transfer deal worth 500,000 pounds for the acquisition of Charlie Adam from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in 2009.
The manager added that Torres can be allowed to be out of form as he has a long career ahead of him and he is young. He said that the deal would surely be a fruitful one for the Blues in the future.
“It just goes to show the gulf between what we’re doing and what Chelsea are doing. He’s allowed to go out of form because he’s still very young. I think he’s still one of the best players in the world and Chelsea have done a fantastic bit of business,”
he said.
Blackpool face Chelsea on Monday night in a crucial clash to avoid the danger of being in the drop zone in the coming weeks after a fantastic start to the ongoing 2010-11 season.
The Tangerines currently sit in 15th place with 32 points and are 2 points above the relegation zone.
