Ian Holloway convinced to stay at Bloomfield road
Blackpool manager, Ian Holloway will retain his post at the club despite the fact that he had threatened to resign, earlier. Holloway had repeatedly threatened to leave the Seasiders if they were fined for fielding an under-strength
side earlier in the season.
On Thursday, Blackpool were found guilty of utilizing an under-strength squad against Aston Villa, back in November, and the club was fined 25000 pounds for the offence. However, now, it looks like manager Ian Holloway will not
be leaving Blackpool after that decision. The acting chief executive of the club, Karl Oyston also said that he would fight to death to keep the enigmatic manager at his post.
What Ian Holloway has done for Blackpool is nothing short of a miracle. Holloway not only oversaw the club’s promotion into the Premier League, but has also managed to keep the Seasiders in the top half of the table, this season.
It is a remarkable achievement for Blackpool, since they were the favourites to be relegated in this campaign.
Speaking on Blackpool’s impending punishment for allegedly fielding an under-strength side, Holloway had earlier said, “He (Oyston) will be getting my resignation because that is how strongly I feel (about the fine). It is up to
him whether he chooses to take it. I don't know who I am working for. I have done the best job I could for this club and have tried to win every single game, including the game at Aston Villa (which had been under scrutiny).”
However, Karl Oyston made it clear that he has no intention of letting his manager leave. Oyston responded, “I absolutely would not accept his resignation and I would fight to the death to keep him in his post. He has done fantastically
well and deserves to manage at this level for ever.”
Oyston has discussed the matter with Holloway and it seems that he has managed to convince the manager to stay with the club. Thus, the fans can now rest, knowing that they still have their enigmatic leader to see their side through
the rest of the Premier League season.
