Ian Holloway fears the departure of key players
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has admitted it will be difficult to keep hold of his best players in January.
Blackpool has started the Premier League season in relatively good form and the club currently sits above the relegation places in 14th position. Holloway has admitted Blackpool will not be able to stop
bigger clubs coming in for key players.
"I have a lot of good players who, cunningly, we're not paying a lot of money to.
Others will see that and they'll covet them and then come in. And I won't be able to do a d**n thing," he said.
The departure of important players is going to hit Blackpool hard over the rest of the season. However, the club has to rely on player loyalty because the infrastructure
of the club cannot resist big bids.
A potential huge blow
This is a potential huge blow because Blackpool relies on a few important players within the team. The Blackpool squad isn't huge and losing players such as Charlie Adam
and DJ Campbell will bring down the strength of the team. Youth players and inexperienced players will be thrown into difficult Premier League games.
It is very important for Blackpool to stay in the Premier League because of the financial power the league holds. The only chance the club has of maintaining the good start
to the season is if club officials work tirelessly on and off the field.
The problem is that Blackpool isn't in a position to resist any good offer from a bigger side for a key player. In terms of wages and bonuses the club cannot match some
of the offers that are going to start coming in. Some signing on fees offered by other clubs may be the size of Blackpool's total wage budget.
Betting advice
Blackpool has suffered back to back losses in the Premier League but the club is still in a good position. If the side loses two or three good players in January then have
a punt on the club going back down to the Championship.
