Ian Holloway knows that Blackpool's survival is not yet ensured – English Premier League news
Blackpool manager, Ian Holloway, realizes the importance of his side’s victory over Bolton Wanderers at Bloomfield road on Saturday. However, he knows that the club’s Premier League survival is still far from ensured.
Blackpool’s performance against Bolton showed just why every neutral supporter of the Premier League wants them to remain in the English top flight. A game in which the Seasiders are involved always promises goals, and Saturday’s match at Bloomfield road
ranks as one of the most thrilling matches of the ongoing 2010/11 Premier League season.
The final score was 4-3 to the hosts, thanks in part to a woeful defensive display from Bolton. However, Blackpool deserve much of the credit for their never-say-die attitude. The Tangerines fought their way back into the lead on three separate occasions
to earn themselves three vital points in the race against relegation.
However, it is still uncertain whether or not fans will be able to enjoy Blackpool’s free-flowing football in the next Barclays Premier League campaign. Despite the win over Bolton, Holloway’s men are floundering in 18th place in the standings.
The Seasiders will need a result in their match against Manchester United at Old Trafford to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.
Blackpool’s fate is not in their own hands now, as even a win at Old Trafford does not guarantee them safety. The results of the other teams fighting it out at the tail-end of the league will play a huge part in the club’s final position.
It is something that Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is well aware of. Speaking after the match at Bloomfield Road, the enigmatic Englishman said, “I think that's what football is all about and it would be a shame if my lads and their efforts don't give us another
chance at it (the Premier League). But we've got to earn that right and we've got one game left, which is away to Manchester United and it doesn't get much tougher."
