Ian Holloway promises Charlie Adam will remain focussed
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has promised club captain Charlie Adam will remain focussed on his on-field play amidst a financial dispute with the club.
Reports have been breaking within the media that Adam is ready to take the club to court over a bonus he was not paid when he joined the club from Rangers in August of last year. Adam is reportedly owed
£20,000 as Blackpool escaped Championship relegation.
"All I'm worried about is if he's going to be fit for Monday [Premier League clash against West Brom].
I'll deal with them [any player with a problem] and I'll manage them as I've done before. Charlie has no problem with me at all. I've got no problem with him, and the
club doesn't have a problem with him," said Holloway.
Adam is crucial to the way Blackpool plays and he is crucial to any chances the club has of staying in the Premier League. The club cannot afford for him to lose focus
because there is no equally able replacement to come into the side.
A key player
Adam is the club captain and has been very instrumental in the way the club has played so far this season. Adam is dominant in the Blackpool midfield both physically and
vocally. This keeps every player on edge and means concentration levels don't drop.
The Scot is a very creative player going forward. He is able to thread balls in through the heart of any defence but he can also stay calm and stroke the ball out wider
to a winger if needed.
"If Charlie feels that way [annoyed], if the chairman feels that way
and there's a dispute then someone else has got to sort it out and I'm delighted that it's not me.
If he feels aggrieved then he's dealing with it in the right manner and it will get sorted," added Holloway.
Betting advice
Blackpool needs this issue to be dealt with very quickly. Adam is vital to Blackpool's Premier League survival chances. If he moves in January then don't be surprised if
the odds on Blackpool staying up are slashed.
