Ian Holloway savours Anfield victory
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway says he will savour his team's 2-1 win away at Anfield for the rest of his career.
Goals from Charlie Adam and Luke Varney were enough to keep Liverpool in the relegation places. Holloway says the occasion and the victory is now one of the best moments of his life.
Blackpool continues to upset the odds this season and the club is quickly stabilising in the middle of the Premier League table. It's important that this win can be backed up if the club wants to be safe
in the league by next spring.
There are many areas of Blackpool's game that look extremely impressive. However, the club must work on the consistency of results, which will increase with importance for the rest of the season.
Positive factors
The main positive factor of Blackpool at the moment is that every member of the club seems to be enjoying Premier League life. The players look fit and are playing football with high levels of energy and
enthusiasm.
The club continues to be well supported at home and on the road. Blackpool seems to take some of the biggest away followings in the Premier League. It's also becoming clear that the 'Tangerine Army' makes
more noise than any other set of fans.
Holloway has got the team playing organised football. The back four stays strong and this makes the team hard to break down. It may seem negative to play from defence but it's sensible for any newly promoted
side.
"It is one of the dreams I've had for years.
The boys made me so proud and for that set of supporters to clap us off that is all I wanted, that was what my dream was last night. This is a fantastic moment for Blackpool," said Holloway.
Consistency and luck
Blackpool has to work hard on improving the consistency of the club's results. The club has been comprehensively beaten away at Chelsea, struggled at home against Blackburn
Rovers and won away at Liverpool. Inconsistency is not a good habit to have.
This makes it impossible for Blackpool to settle down and gain some momentum, which will be vital if the club wants to stay safe. One good win has to be followed up by
another or the club will go up and down like a yo-yo for the entire season.
The club also needs a heavy amount of luck to stay safe. This is not something the club can control. Had Fernando Torres not been forced off injured for Liverpool then
Blackpool may not have held on to win the game.
"To see the best striker in the world limp off after a few minutes, I can't tell you what that did for us.
His mere presence is awesome so to see him come off played into our hands and helped us," added the Blackpool boss.
Betting advice
Wait a little while longer before backing Blackpool to be safe this season. The club still has a lot of work to do and the more wins Blackpool gets, the more attention
other teams will pay to the club.
For now the best option is to back key players in the Blackpool team. Charlie Adam takes the majority of the set pieces and penalties. This will give him more chances to
score. Back him to score at any time in any match Blackpool plays at home.
Also back the club to win matches against weaker teams in the Premier League. It's impossible to say how Blackpool will play against the better teams until the club has
more consistency.
