Ian Holloway slams Blackpool critics
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has slammed critics that said his team would be the worst side in Premier League history.
Blackpool went past Derby County's record of 11 points in a Premier League season by beating West Bromwich Albion 2-1 last night. The club now sits in ninth place in the table looking to push for the European
places.
"The lowest points ever, we aren't going to be that team so shut up the lot of you, whoever wrote it. That's what I feel like. It's unfair. They judged us far too early," said Holloway.
Blackpool is a very interesting club to monitor at the moment because despite the relatively comfortable position, there is still a feeling up and down the country that the club's fortunes are balanced
on a knife edge.
Confidence and points
It's very refreshing to see a manager at a Premier League club who is so open and honest about everything. Holloway has already admitted that he doesn't care where Blackpool finishes as long as the players
show confidence and pay him and the fans respect.
Blackpool needs to carry on doing whatever it takes to win games and get points on the board. There is still a lot of time left in the season and a lot of time for things to go wrong.
Blackpool will not be able to shake the focus of critics off easily. This means further negative stories, which the players will read. Holloway must continue in his role as an active and loud manager to
make sure that none of his players are affected by such stories.
"I think we're a good bunch of lads, we're a good team. I think we've got to improve, I think we'll try to, but that's 13 points in 10 games. They might be the only 13 points we get but you [the media]
said we were only going to get 10," he added.
Betting advice
Stay very wary of backing Blackpool against the bigger and stronger teams in the Premier League. The team can scrap for wins against relegation rivals but the gap between the Tangerines and the best sides
in England has already been exposed.
