Ian Kennedy itching to overcome Yovani Gallardo in all-important NLCS Game 5 – MLB Update
The Milwaukee Brewers will be banking on their starter Yovani Gallardo for a win in Game 5 of the National League Division Series against Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, October 7 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Diamondbacks, on the other hand, will persist with Ian Kennedy to start in the all-important tie after the starter failed to make an impact in Game 1. Kennedy gave away four runs in 6.2 innings to lose Game 1 and had since been vying for another start
in the post-season. His team has staged a memorable comeback to draw the series level after initially falling behind 0-2. This is his chance to redeem himself and guide his team to the Championship Series.
Gallardo pitched through to the eighth inning in Game 1 and remained resolute throughout his spell. He allowed just one run amid four hits in this stretch and struck-out nine batters to prove his mettle on the biggest stage of baseball. Gallardo has a perfect
6-0 record in his six career starts against the D-backs at an astounding ERA of 1.18, but with the NLCS at stake, statistics will not have much of a say.
Articulating his approach to the game, Gallardo said, "I just try to stay as relaxed as I can. I'm the same person no matter what. So it's going to be a little bit tougher, but I just have to stay out there, relax, and just pitch my game and see what happens.
I would say definitely it is the most important game in my career."
The Brewers dominated in home fixtures during the regular season and Arizona could not make their mark on the road games. Nonetheless, this is virtually a one-game playoff and the team with more craving for success will prevail in the end.
Arizona’s centre-fielder Chris Young could not agree more and stated that the record is over the entire season. When it comes down to one game, it is for anyone to take.
Kennedy expressed his desperation to help his team though to the NLCS and punctuated that he is willing to do anything possible to help out the team.
