The Arizona Diamondbacks’ management has selected starting pitcher Ian Kennedy as Opening Day starter. Kennedy is a talented player and possesses large Major League experience.
He has also backing of his manager Kirk Gibson who recently told local Arizona media about the Diamondbacks’ choice. Even he has earlier told the media that chances are high that the Diamondbacks will chose him for Opening Day starter.
“If everything goes right, Ian’s going to start on Opening Day, He’s been great for us. I don’t know why we’d change that,” Gibson said Monday before his team’s Cactus League game in Surprise against the Royals.
Gibson added, “Anyway you look at it, he threw 200 innings for us, He was reliable. He was dedicated. He did it the Diamondback way. He’s certainly done nothing to lose the position.”
Gibson further said, “He’s had it for a while but last night it got real red, He had this last year and he got through it.”
It is certainly true that Kennedy is certainly a big player in the Diamondbacks roster and capable of take the franchise’s burden on the very first day of 2013 Major League Baseball season.

Along with Ian Kennedy, the Diamondbacks have also some good starters in the roster and know these pitchers would potentially outplay all the leading hitters in the big franchises.
Trevor Cahill is there who achieved wonderful numbers in the last season by achieving 3.78 ERA along with 13-12 win loss, 156 strikeouts and 1.29 WHIP. He is also carrying a good career ERA of 3.87 along with 53-47 win loss, 511 strikeouts and 1.31 WHIP.
All these pitchers certainly are talented and know their potential respective roles in the coming season. If all things went well, the experts rate the Diamondbacks high against many other MLB franchises.
