Ian Kennedy still seeks long-term deal with Arizona Diamondbacks – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks do not look like their are serious to give any long term deal to their talented pitcher Ian Kennedy. This matter has been around for two years now when the Diamondbacks and Kennedy’s agent started a discussion on a long term contract. However, nothing has happened yet and it seems the Diamondbacks’ management is not taking any interest in this important issue.
Kennedy joined the Diamondbacks in 2009 when he was traded from the New York Yankees. Though his early plays were well constructed and he pitched with big energy, but the Diamondbacks despite watching him play well did not offer him any long contract even though he deserved a big deal.
Later the things got more complicated and the issue of his contract length remained unsettled. Nevertheless, now once again his matter has picked the media hype while the Diamondbacks’ are still reluctant to initiate any dialogue with Kennedy’s agent.
In the meanwhile, some experts lately are expressing positively for Kennedy. These experts are linking Kennedy’s potential long term contract with his recent performance in this year’s Spring Training.
Kennedy, who has certainly played very well in this year’s Cactus League, mentioned earlier with great delight about the way things are proceeding for him. He spoke to the media recently saying, “I felt like there were some times out of the stretch where I was pulling some pitches, but overall I was pretty happy with it, It felt like there were some points where they got guys on and I had to really battle through them, but I got through them and got my outs. It's nice to finally get past those two or three inning times and you feel like you're facing guys two or three times in the order, it's much better as a starter to do that."
The Training Camps are now over and Kennedy along with his other teammates is looking good hoping for a good season. On the other hand, if Kennedy showed good commitment and played well in the next season, there is a fair chance that he might be given a long term contract.
