Ian Kinsler and David Murphy make note of Rangers’ hitting jitters in World Series
Statistical evaluation is a cruel approach to surmise a certain behaviour or situation. In the Texas Rangers case, that has been the scenario when it comes down to the World Series. On Friday, October 21, second baseman, Ian Kinsler, and Outfielder David
Murphy made note of the poor World Series form carried by the club, over the last seven games. The club was present in the competition in 2010 against the San Francisco Giants and now they’re up against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Rangers had a tough time against the Giants as they lost their encounters early due to poor hitting form against the club pitchers. Nothing more has changed than the opposition club itself, but the Texans will need to translate their passion for the
major league title in the competition if they hope to do well in the coming games at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday and there is optimism over the club’s chances of prevailing.
The club was .189 in its last seven games in the World Series. It has an on-base percentage of .248. The two figures are the lowest for any team in the World Series. Their slugging percentage is also weak at .278. Kinsler, the hero from Game 2, spoke to
the press about the club’s prior woes.
"We get out of ourselves a little bit," second baseman Ian Kinsler said. "We get a little over-aggressive trying to create things that aren't necessarily there. If we can relax and play our style of baseball, we'll be fine."
The Rangers tend to do well against the American League teams in the postseason. They have comprehensively beaten the likes of New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays to reach the finals. Surely they have the skills to get the job done.
"Sometimes we make this bigger than it really is," outfielder David Murphy said. "This is still the same game we're playing in June and July. We just need to find the same things that worked for us during the year. If we'll do that, we'll be fine."
The club needs three more wins to lift the title. The question is: can they do it?
