Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz make history with three home runs apiece in three successive games
Things could not have started this well for the Texas Rangers. Apart from handing the Boston Red Sox a series clean sweep defeat, they rose to the record charts when both Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler walked off the field with three homers apiece in three
games.
The two hitters have made history smashing good balls through the stands in their third successive game. The two were more than happy to hear the news and their form is looking strong at the moment.
The Boston Red Sox have one of the best rosters in the American League and it is known that they have the potential to do more damage than any other team in the country. However, the Texans made their case known in the series and Kinsler was able to talk
of the play that got him and Cruz to this point.
"It's pretty special", Kinsler said. "I don't know anything about it ... I'm not trying to do it, but right now we're getting lucky...we're getting good pitches to hit. It's pretty fun".
Off the 11 homers that were hit by the Rangers, in the past three games, six have come from Kinsler and Cruz, while two have come from Mike Napoli and David Murphy. The Red Sox brought Clay Buchholz to the mound but he was unable to do anything against the
Rangers.
"Buchholz was throwing the ball well, but he put one over the middle of the plate and I hit it well", Cruz said.
Cruz smashed his shot 447 feet towards the upper deck of the Home Run Porch. According to records, he’s the only other left-hand hitter to hit into the upper deck after Chad Curtis in 2000.
Kinsler is trying well to fit into his leadoff role. With only one at-bat, he did a lot of damage.
"I'm just trying to have good at-bats and set the tone ... single, walk, home run, whatever it may be", Kinsler said. "With the home run you need a little luck, unless you are Babe Ruth or Albert Pujols. I'm just putting good swings on balls that are over
the plate".
With 11 homers already, it will be exciting to see what the Rangers will do next in the second series.
