Ian Kinsler talks about Texas Rangers’ Game 2 win over Tampa Bay Rays 8-6 – MLB News
Second baseman Ian Kinsler had lot to talk about after the Texas Rangers managed an 8-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Saturday, October 1 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
The game was very important for the home team as the club was looking to even the exciting series.
Kinsler was part of the Texas attack that rendered the Rays ineffective, even with ‘Big Game’ James Shield on the mound. Though Kinsler had little to do in the fourth inning, his knock in the sixth inning allowed his club to capitalise on the Rays with two
additional runs. Shields had been effective in his first three innings before he allowed five runs in the fourth.
The two hit pitches and a wild throw to David Murphy proved costly as the Rangers were unable to put down the hurler with an impressive knock. Kinsler acknowledged the importance of the winner as the Rangers and Rays are tied 1-1 in the five game series.
"That was a lot of fun," second baseman Ian Kinsler said. "Every postseason win is huge but ... we can't say that this was a must-win, but it was a pretty huge win."
The fans were wild in Rangers Ballpark as the second baseman pointed out. Mike Napoli had been the hero on the last day of the regular season as he managed to pick two homers against his former team, the Los Angeles Angels. The last game victory allowed
the Rangers to play at home. Hence, that explained the support for the catcher.
"The crowd was awesome tonight," Kinsler said. "When they were chanting Napoli's name, it gave me chills up my spine."
Kinsler complemented the relievers who managed to lock the Rays down on six runs after Evan Longoria hit a three run homer against Koji Uehara. Mitch Moreland sealed the victory with a solo homer in the eighth.
With the series tied, Kinsler will be hoping to hit some homers of his own at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg during Game 3 of the series.
