Ian Poulter, Louis Oosthuizen and Anthony Kim join the field at Wyndham Championship
Ian Poulter, Louis Oosthuizen and Anthony Kim have joined the field at the Wyndham Championship to earn a spot in the Top 50 of the FedEx Cup rankings. The European Tour event presented by BB&T will take place at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro from
August 15 to 21, 2011.
Englishman Poulter has had a decent year so far, having made cuts in 10 of the 12 PGA Tour starts. Last year, he also won the first leg of the World Golf Championships and made a new record of being the first Englishman to win the Accenture Match Play Championship.
This year, he defeated Luke Donald at Volvo Match Play Championship and added another trophy to his case. Being a winner of 12 international tournaments, Poulter will be making a debut appearance in the Wyndham Championship.
Oosthuizen, who is currently ranked at 36th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 146th in the FedEx Cup point standings, has made eight cuts in 12 of PGA tour events this year. The winner of 2010 Open Championship has six international
wins to his credit, but this year, he needs a win to take part in the President Cup. The player will have to win either on PGA or the European tour.
Meanwhile, Kim is ranked 89th according to FedEx Cup point standings and 61st on the Official World Golf Rankings. His career chart shows two Top 10 finishes in 13 starts this year, which includes a Top 5 finish at the Open Championship,
which is his best finish of the year. Unlike, Poulter and Oosthuizen, Kim is not a first timer at Wyndham. He made his debut last year in which he failed to make the cut owing to a knee injury.
The trio will join Paul Casey, Kyung-Tae Kim, David Toms, Lucas Glover, Webb Simpson, Bill Haas, Carl Pettersson, Vijay Singh, Angel Cabrera, Brandt Snedeker, Justin Leonard, Charles Howell III, Rocco Mediate, Davis Love III, Boo Weekley, Stuart Appleby,
John Daly, Kyle Stanley, Tommy Gainey and defending champion Arjun Atwal.
