Ian Poulter and Paul Casey join Ballantine’s Championship field
Ian Poulter and Paul Casey are heading to Korea to play the upcoming Ballantine’s Championship, scheduled to take place from April 26 to 29, 2012.
Tournament officials said that the field has been set, and the €2,205,000 purse is one of the appealing factors for most of the professionals.
The top-ranked stars are expected to confirm their participation for the European Tour event, set to be staged at the Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
Poulter, the 36-year-old Englishman, is excited and is aiming to bag a big achievement in the upcoming tournament.
He is returning after showing a massive performance at the Masters and the Volvo China Open in the previous weeks.
He finished the Masters on the 7th position and recorded 29th at the Volvo China Open. He is in his full form and will make the field of the Ballantine's Championship more thrilling and competitive.
“It looks like it will be a very strong field, and the course at Blackstone Golf Club is a challenging one, so it will be a great test. I am relishing the challenge though, and as my top ten finishes in the Masters showed, my game is in great shape,” Poulter
said.
Similarly, the 34-year-old Englishman Casey is also among the hottest stars in Korea. He has not performed well in the current season. However, he has the required skills to make the upcoming tournament more appealing.
Since turning professional in 2000, he has not played the upcoming European Tour event. He will be giving his debut performance at the Ballantine’s Championship this year.
“I’m looking forward to making my debut in the Ballantine’s Championship as I’ve heard great things about the event,” Casey said.
“It’s always fun going to the Far East and sampling the great culture over there. The people are always extremely friendly and the food is good too”.
Analysts said that the field is now more solid, due largely to the participation of the two Englishmen in the field.
On the other hand, spectators are also looking forward to see their favourites at the Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
Analysts also pointed out that there are plenty of chances for both the professionals to impress their fans in Korea. They only have to observe other leading stars like Miguel Angel Jiménez, Darren Clarke and James Morrison.
