Ian Poulter is ready to battle for Europeans Tours’ Volvo China Open
Ian Poulter is gearing up for the upcoming Europeans Tours’ Volvo China Open, scheduled to be staged from April 19 to 22, 2012. He will be competing for the title rigorously.
The 36-year-old English professional golf player is in the field, as he has been confirmed couple of days before. He is confident to compete for the title and has ample chances to lead the scores.
“I am delighted to be competing for this title for the first time, especially with Volvo’s terrific long-term commitment to the event,” said Poulter.
“I think it’s something like their 18th year, and the fact that China is such a different and unique venue really makes it special”.
He turned professional in 1995 and since then, he has won 11 European Tour staged events. Last year, he was impressive at Volvo World Match Play Championship and is now heading to China to continue his performance at Volvo staged events.
In 2010, he won his first title of the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship with a 4 and 2 score lead.
Poulter has played on the PGA Tour since January 2012. He recorded many top finishes and played an amazing game. He made his best finish in the current year at Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, finishing on the third position.
Two weeks back, he played the first major of the year, the Masters Tournament. He worked there and recorded his best finish, 7th on the leaderboard.
He scored a 5-under 283 and displayed an amazing competitive performance at the Augusta National Golf Club. His presence in the field of the Europeans Tours’ Volvo China Open is tough for the others.
Poulter is in good form and will be giving a tough time to the other field members, at Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China. The need of the hour is to maintain under par score and save bogeys.
Nicolas Colsaerts is the defending champion of the tournament. He won the 2011 edition by scoring a 24-under par score, leading by four strokes.
All the players are aiming the RMB 20,000,000 prize fund. The competition is tough. To win such high figures, all the players have to deliver their best and only consistent scores will help.
