Ian Wright backs Carlo Ancelotti tactics
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 striker Ian Wright believes Carlo Ancelotti has every right to pursue a squad rotation policy, which can also see Chelsea big names being dropped to the bench.
The Blues’ boss revealed earlier that no one in his squad is a sure starter as he wants to find the best combination in the team that could bring Chelsea back to winning ways.
Wright said, “Chelsea have got some stars who are coming to the end of their careers now and they're going to need to bring in more players who can help the club push forward. If a team is looking to continually progress, as Chelsea are, no one should be
guaranteed a place.”
Few big Chelsea players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have slumped to fifth position in the Barclays
Premier League and are already ruled out of the title race.
However, Chelsea splashed more than £70 million to land http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in order to get their title campaign back on track. But their latest defeat to Liverpool and a goalless draw against Fulham
has put them 12 points behind the league leaders Manchester United.
Chelsea are currently placed fifth and Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that the Blues are now aiming for a top four finish in the Barclays Premier League.
Ian Wright backed Carlo Ancelotti’s rotation policy and said even if club captain John Terry is not performing, he should be dropped.
Chelsea’s talismanic striker Didier Drogba, who was the League’s top scorer in the previous season, was dropped in Chelsea’s last draw over Fulham and Fernando Torres was preferred over the Ivorian skipper.
Ian Wright seconds Ancelotti decision and said, “He's another who has got to be performing and has got to be scoring goals. If they can't get that from him, they'll get it from someone else because that's the business Chelsea are in. When you've got a man
like Abramovich at the helm who will spend in one go, of course the likes of Terry and Drogba will be worried.”
Moreover, Frank Lampard, who has been out of action during the first half of the season, has also shown his support to Carlo Ancelotti in resting players who are not at their best. The talismanic midfielder also claimed that the UEFA Champions League is
now Chelsea’s priority.
